Biography

Joy Brenda Masinde is a Kenyan legal practitioner, lawyer, and analyst. She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and serves as the Chairperson of the Kenya Power Board, among other positions. She served as the Executive Director of the East Africa Centre for Law and Justice (EACLJ).

After Vivienne Yeda left office after serving since July 2020, the Kenya Power Board appointed Joy Masinde as the new Chairperson.

Education

Joy Masinde obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi. She studied towards a Master of Arts in Leadership from the International Leadership University.

Career

Masinde has served in many positions in Kenya. She has served as the Executive Director of the East Africa Centre of Law and Justice (EACLJ).

Joy is an advocate of the High Court. She served as Executive Director of the Christian Legal Education Aid and Research (CLEAR).

Masinde served in the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya. She served in Kenya Students Christian Fellowship and the Deliverance Church International Council.

Joy was a council member at the Law Society of Kenya. On Friday, 16 December 2022, at the Kenya Power Annual General Meeting, she and other directors received appointments to different positions. She has served as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya for two decades. Joy is also a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

Masinde served as a Council Member of the LSK, Nairobi Branch. She has served as the Executive Director of the East Africa Centre for Law and Justice (EACLJ) for twelve years. She has worked in civil society for over two decades and served Kenya as a magistrate.

Appointment

Kenya Power appointed Joy Brenda Masinde as the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors. The power company announced on Monday the appointment of Masinde alongside six other directors.

The company appointed them at its Annual general meeting held on Friday. She takes over from her predecessor Vivienne Yedawho.
