Early Life

Maglera was born on August 3, 1993, in a small town Reitz in Free State. He grew up in the township of Kanana, North West province. He started rapping at the age of ten when he would steal his brother’s raps.

The 29-year-old grew had his childhood experiences in a community riddled with violence.


He started his musical journey under the stage name M.D.B – Maglera Doe Boy – at a young age.

In 2015, he gained national attention after dropping the EP, Progression. Many media and music heavyweights noticed his masterpiece. 

Hype Magazine mentioned it among its Top 5 underrated Mixtapes and EPs. He worked on other music projects and gained more recognition. 

Many of his songs are relatable and feature big names in the entertainment space.

Maglera has collaborated with artists like Slikour, Towdeemac, Cassper Nyovest, and Khuli Chana. He is a nominee for the Hype Magazine 2017 Freshmen list.

Artists like Brickz, Mapaputsi, Ma-Orange, Gumshev, and Zola, Mageu influenced his style of music. He started to record in studios at a young age and has worked with many Afro-Pop legends. 

In 2022, the talented songwriter Maglera Doe Boy dropped a new single – Diaspora. He created his music brand called Strata, which translates to the street.
