Early Life

Lungi Naidoo was born in KwaDukuza (formally Stanger) in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Her parents, Sibongile Naidoo and Moonsamy Naidoo, raised her.

At the time of her birth, the apartheid law prevented her parents, her Zulu mother and Indian father, from marrying. They taught her about their different cultures, and she learned.

At eighteen, the singer relocated to Johannesburg to focus on her music career. She thought the journey would be smooth, but she met a tough start.

Her experiences made her wonder if she would make it in the industry but giving up was not an option.

Career

In the formative stage of her music career, the singer dropped two albums as an independent artist. She did not get the intended result, but she did not get discouraged.

Eventually, Black Coffee featured her on his hit single Love On Fire, a track from his critically acclaimed album Pieces of Me. She has continued to record changes in the industry.

Lungi dropped an album, Black Diamond, in 2016 through Universal Music Group, which housed many hit tracks like Kiss Madolo.

Success came with hard work and consistency for 18 years after she moved to Johannesburg. She went through tough times and started to sing in dimly-lit clubs.

The singer has performed with the DJ, record producer, and songwriter Black Coffee. After their performance, international promoters request her to perform in London.

Lungi created the non-profit organization, The Lungi Foundation, to give back to society. It has helped twenty schools in rural KwaZulu-Natal with uniforms, books, and food parcels.

The singer dropped another EP to celebrate her heritage to mark her return after a hiatus from making music.

Singer Lungi Naidoo returned to music with her latest EP celebrating her heritage and pride, and the star says she has found her voice once again. She dropped a multi-genre EP, Courage, after taking a break from the industry to find herself.

Personal Life

Lungile doesn’t hold back speaking about her personal life, accomplishment, and struggle.

At first, she and her baby daddy struggled to make ends meet for themselves and their daughter Elissa.

The duo discussed that their relationship wasn’t going the way they wanted. He left her and their child and returned to KwaZulu-Natal. Lungile raised their daughter alone and focused on her dreams.

Sadly, the father of her daughter died from a gunshot in a hijacking in July 2017. Later in life, the singer shared her experience with fibroids.

Some years ago, she and her ex-boyfriend Brian Temba made headlines after ending their relationship.
