Elzabé Zietsman (born January 20, 1961) is a 62-year-old South African singer, cabaret artist, actress, and producer. She is prominent for playing fiery redhead Kaye Knobel in Egoli: Place of Gold.

The actress appeared in the M-Net soap opera from 1995 to 1998 and 2002 to 2003. She has dropped many songs like Die Eensame Kooi, Belville Blues, and Kry Wolke Seer.

Zietsman is best known for appearing in Getroud met rugby, River of Death, and The Stick.

Early Life

Elzabé Zietsman was born on January 20, 1961, in Bethal, Eastern Transvaal, now called Mpumalanga. She grew up in South Africa.

Education

Zietsman had singing lessons at Sarie Lamprecht, Johannesburg, South Africa. She attended the Technikon Pretoria and studied Drama.

Career

The actress entered showbiz in 1982 after joining the PACT Youth Company. She appeared in some PACT production. She has continued to land many television, stage, and movie roles.

Elzabé appeared in the Janice Honeyman-directed production in 1984. She had her debut solo performance at After Dark in Pretoria in 1989.

Many prominent and iconic authors have created her a show to feature. She dropped her debut album X111 in October 1999 and performed with Amanda Strydom at the KKNK and Aardklop in 2000.

In 2001, she shared the stage with the singer-songwriter and pianist Coenie de Villiers at Aardklop. The playwright Deon Opperman wrote a show for her to perform, Kaalgestroop, in 2002.

Veteran composer Wikus du Toit also wrote her show Small change in 2004. Scriptwriter and poet Emma Bekker wrote a cabaret titled Agter Glas for Elzabe in 2008.

In 2003, Elzabe, Sean Else, and Theresa du Preez created the independent theatre production company Kookoo Productions.

Television shows

Elzabé Zietsman played Pat in season 2 of the SABC2 comedy, science fiction Die Vlieënde Springbokkie. She appeared in season one of the SABC3 drama series Dit Wat Stom Is as Babsie Davel.

In the soap opera Egoli: Place of Gold, she appeared as Kaye Knobel and as Pope Paula in Erfsondes. The actress played Riaan Human in Geraamtes in die Kas and Magda in Getroud met Rugby: Die Sepie.

Business

Elzabe Zietsman opened the popular restaurant Zietsies in 2007. The restaurant operates, with a performer, only for Sunday lunches. 

Personal Life 

Elzabé Zietsman donated a kidney to her sister’s child, Retha Schoeman. Netcare Jacaranda Hospital admitted them for the transplant. Elzabé Zietsman lives in Johannesburg, South Africa.
