Antoinette Kellerman (born on 22 January 1952) is a South African actress. She has appeared in many Films and television productions.

Appearing in television drama series like Song vir Katryn, Known Gods, Soutmansland, and Villa Rosa, walked her into the limelight. She has played a very diverse spectrum of age groups.

The legendary actress and Wilna Snyman were nominees for the Best Actress category at the 2011 Fleur du Caps,

Early Life

Antoinette Kellerman was born on 22 January 1952 in Bellville, Western Cape. She has made many stage and onscreen appearances since her younger days. Kellerman studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch.

Career

The actress has appeared in many television productions and series. She played Mev Heyns in Arsenaal, a drama broadcast on SABC2. She portrayed Soekie in a soap opera broadcast on M-Net and kykNET -Binnelanders.

Kellerman acted in other television series such as Geraldina die Tweede, Sleurstroom, Paradys, Khululeka, Torings, Justice for All, Egoli, SOS, Die Glaskasteel, and Montana.

Apart from her television, she has many theatre appearances too. She performed in Ek, Anna van Wyk, Die Storm, As Die Broek Pas, Man to Man, Blou Uur, Verleiding, and Klaasvlakie.

The seasoned actress played Kolonel Human in the kykNET crime anthology series Die Boland Moorde.

Apart from acting, the actress is a lecturer at the drama department of the University of Stellenbosch. After graduating, she worked at regional councils – TRUK and PITCHER.

While working on contract, she appeared in many plays that gave her the boost and experience to establish herself as an actress. She portrayed Merteuil in Heiner Müller’s Quartet and Lucienne in Hond’s Thought, among others.

By 1994, the actress became a freelancer and earned many awards. She played the starring role in Reza de Wet’s Breathing In, The Blue Hour, and Seduction, among others.

The South African Academy for Science and Art honored her for contributing to the country’s theatre in 2008. She has played many male roles, like in Die Storm as Prosperro.

Another male role to her movie credit is Farenji in Breyten Breytenbach’s Boklied, among others. In 2012, she based her thesis for her Master’s degree on male roles played by female players.

Antoinette bagged five awards in 2012 for her one-woman show As die broek pas. She performed it in English as Man to Man.

The actress starred in Samsa machine by Willem Anker. She appeared as Josfine Samsa in Tennessee Williams’ The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here.

Personal Life

Antoinette Kellerman tied the knot with Anton van der Linde. Her husband worked as a sound mixer on the drama Known Gods series filmed in Somerset West.

The duo met two decades before marriage at Quantum Films studio and were friends for years. They later fell in love and then took things a step forward. They tied the knot on Melkplaas farm near Velddrift.
