Biography

Annie Klopper is a South African writer, editor, language practitioner, and postgraduate research associate. She is also a poet, freelancer, part-time lecturer, and music journalist.

As a lecturer, she works part-time at the Department of Afrikaans and Dutch at the University of the Western Cape.

Education

Annie Klopper obtained a BA in Humanities and a Hons (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University. She holds an MA (cum laude) in Afrikaans and Dutch at Stellenbosch University.

In 2017, she graduated from Stellenbosch University with a Ph.D.

Career

From 2008 – 2010, Annie was a Judge for Huisgenoot’s Tempo awards. In February 2015, she became a part-time lecturer at the University of the Western Cape.

For over eighteen years, she has worked with the print media company Media 24 as a Freelance Proofreader. For eight years, she started working as a Freelance Journalist in 2004.

Publications

Annie is an editor at Protea Boekhuis and a music correspondent for LitNet. She has a column about music on LitNet called Rockjagter. 

After her Master’s Degree, she published her first book titled Biografie van ‘n bende : die storie van Fokofpolisiekar. She made her fiction debut titled The tragic case of Die tragiese saak van Pamina Vermaak. 

It was a nominee for an ATKV Word Feather. Annie was also a co-researcher for an MK documentary Johnny en die Maaiers. She was also a co-compiler of Die Siel van die mier by Eugene Marais. She also contributed to Van Volksmoeder tot Fokofpolisiekar (Sun Media).

Poem

As a poet, Annie Klopper has published many poems. Some of her poems have been recorded in:
