Biography
Mbali Hlophe (born 1982-1983) is a South African politician. She has held many notable positions in government, and her contributions are endless.
David Makhura appointed Hlophe as the Member of the Executive Council for sport, arts, culture, and recreation.
Her political interest grew in the university, and she served as the President of the Student Representative Council. She is a member of the ruling party African National Congress.
On May 22, 2019, she became a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.

Early life
Mbali Hlophe was born around 1982-1983 in Pimville, Soweto to Mary and Joseph Hlophe. Her parents influenced her in politics and activism when she was young.
Her father was a priest at the Old Apostolic Church. Watching her father serve his community made her want to do the same.
Education
Hlophe attended Parktown Girls High School and finished matric in 2002. She pursued a degree in architectural studies at the University of Witwatersrand.
In her third year, she changed from architecture to developmental studies.
Career
Hlophe was active in politics since her secondary school days. She was President of the Student Representative Council at the University of Witwatersrand.
The authorities arrested her for leading a protest against fee increases at Wits.
Mbali was a member of the provincial executive committee of the ANC Youth League. She served for two consecutive terms and was a spokesperson.
After the 2019 Provincial election, she became an ANC representative at the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
On May 29, 2019, Premier David Makhura announced his executive council appointed Hlophe as MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation. On May 30, she was sworn into office.
According to her, it was not only about arts and sports but to provide a way for the youth to use their natural talents and prevent them from ‘negative’ activities.
Hlophe is the new MEC for Social Development and Agriculture, Rural Development.
