Early Life
Carina Nel was born on January 4, 1988, in Pretoria, the capital city of South Africa. The 35-year-old grew up in South Africa.
Education
Nel graduated with a Bachelor with Honors degree in drama and studied at Tshwane Technical University in Pretoria.
Career
Carina started to involve herself in acting during her days at the university. She began to appear in many plays and theatre productions.
After high institution, she appeared in many other productions. She joined with Children’s Theatre in the traveling production – What Walrus?
Later, she was part of the independent theatre work Pappawerwyn. After meeting prominent theater director Quintin Wils and the author Jannes Erasmus, she began to appear in more productions.
Nel appeared in seven roles in the solo program Suster and in other stage plays like Sand. Later, she got an invite to the soap opera Generations. Nel played Isabelle and has continued for over two years.
In 2016, the actress appeared in the Mira Nair-directed biographical film Queen of Katwe.
It told a story about a young Ugandan chess player Phiona Mutesi. She played the Canadian chess player Dina Kagramanov in the biographical film.
Nel also appeared in the Danie Odendaal-produced SABC 2 soap opera 7de Laan. She played dual roles – Alexa Chauke and Amanda Lous.

Carina Nel and her husband, Deon Nagel, exchanged their marriage vows in a beautiful intimate ceremony.
The couple had their honeymoon in Mauritius. She is a proud mother of one.
