He is the current Deputy Minister for Higher Education and Training. Buti has held this post for over three (3) years now, since 2017.

He was the Deputy Minister in the Presidency: Planning Monitoring & Evaluation. He was also Deputy Minister for Youth Development & Administration.

Education

He completed his high school education at Phagameng High School. He then enrolled at the Mamelodi College where he obtained his N-Certificate in Electronics until 2001.

Buti Manamela is a father and husband. He is with two (2) children and a wife, though he rather keeps his personal life private.

Career

Buti began politics by being an organizer for the South African Commercial, a trade union in South Africa. 

He also organized the Catering and Allied Workers Union in 2000. 

Later in 2003, Buti joined the Former National Secretary at the renowned Young Communist League. There he served as the national secretary.

He occupied the position until he became the Deputy Minister of Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, and also the Youth Development and Administration.

Buti also served as the Deputy Minister for Higher Education and Training.

Buti has been a member of the Parliament since 2009. He was the Chief volunteer for Parliament’s Nelson Mandela Day activities. 

He also served as the Chief volunteer for the Whip of the Labour Portfolio Committee.

Buti also served as the National Secretary of the Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) from 2003 – 2014. 

He also is a member of the South African Students and the ANC Youth League.
