Sonia Booth is a Soweto-born author, blogger, podcast host, content writer, MC, speaker, and voice-over artist. She is a former beauty queen best known for finishing as the second runner-up in the 2001 Miss SA beauty pageant.

After starting her modeling career in 1998, she represented Southern Africa at the 1999 Mnet Face of Africa competition. She was among the judges at the 2011 and 2012 Miss SA beauty pageants.

Early Life

Sonia Booth was born in the small town of Pimville, Soweto, South Africa. She lived in Orange Farm to complete High School. 

Education

Booth holds a BComm in Marketing & Business Management Degree and graduated in 2006. 

Career

In 1998, she started her modeling career, which was successful. She represented Southern Africa in the Mnet Face of Africa competition in 1999.

In 2001, Sonia left the Miss South Africa beauty pageant as second runner-up. She was among the judges of the 2011 and 2012 Miss SA beauty pageants.

Sonia joined the business world in 2008 after being the founder of Booth Sports. In 2011, she received the Best Innovation Award at the SAB Kickstart Awards.

The celebrated personality has also participated in the Making Moves TV program. She co-founded the non-profit public health organization The Booth Education & Sports Trust in 2009 with her husband.

During the 2010 World Cup, she wrote a column that made it in The Star, Cape Argus, Mercury, and Isolezwe newspapers. Many television shows have profiled her, including Top Billing, My Top 10 at 10 Mzansi Magic, Pasella, and Expresso Show.

Sonia has also appeared on the cover of many publications – Sandton, Mamas & Papas, True Love, Real, Get It, and the Ackermans magazines.

The celebrated personality is also an author and launched her book at the Connaught Rooms in London in 2014. She received The Reinvent Yourself Coach Award.

Her second book -Surviving ICU – followed in March 2017. She has also been MC at the Women of Valour Celebration. The non-profit organization Let’s Build Our Country benefited from the event.

Sonia has proven to be a force to reckon with and has had many inspirational speeches. She has talked for many notable brands and organizations like Pick n Pay, African Bank, and Charterhouse School, TARA Hospital.

Booth has also done talks for women empowerment conferences like Woman’s Achievers Congress.

In July 2016, at the Financial Fitness Seminar, she addressed over 200 female entrepreneurs present. In May 2017, Sonia became the host of Opinion Booth on CliffCentral.com.

Sonia founded a footwear manufacturing and retailing company Booth Sports, in 2008. In 2011, she bagged the Best Innovation Award at the SAB Kickstart Awards.

Personal Life

Sonia Booth and her husband, Matthew Booth, a retired soccer player, have two boys – Noah and Nathan. In 2022, she accused her husband of having an affair with another married woman since February 14.

South Africans admired how their marriage worked until she dropped this cheating allegation. She claimed to have hired a private investigator to monitor them.

She reveals that her husband was having affairs with Bongani Mthombeni-Moller. Eventually, she contacted Bongani’s husband.

According to her, her husband and Bogani started the affair on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2022. Matthew picked her up from her house, and they went to Polokwane to spend the night.

Sophia complained she was home when her husband left to see Bongani. He got her beautiful things like flowers, and they even had a launch together.

Bongani had posted Matthew on her Instagram, appreciating him for his help with her fitness journey. Sonia shocked everyone with the last part after mentioning that her husband is not wealthy as he claims.

The businesswoman spent six years living in Russia. She and her hubby have spent over fifteen years in marriage. She is fluent in six South African languages and is learning Russian.

In February 2015, a CT scan revealed Sonia had a burst cyst and four fibroids.
