Matome Maupi (born 1970 or 1971) was a South African Journalist. He worked for the SABC in the 2000s. He gained communication skills to communicate with government officials anytime he tackles service delivery issues affecting Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, and Gauteng.

The media personality died on Thursday, April 13, 2023. The news of his demise shocked the radio station he worked for and South Africans too.

He died after spending two months in hospital, although the cause of his death is still under wraps. Matome was best known for hosting the Current Affairs show Hlokwa La Tsela on Thobela FM.

The renowned journalist made his debut as a journalist at Mohodi FM. In the early 2000s, he moved to the SABC. According to SABC regional manager Oupa Mamabolo, he was a kind- an intersection of assertiveness and humility packed in a human being.

A former colleague at the station Thipa Selala described him as a “walking Sepedi encyclopedia.”

Matome Maupi was diligent, cheerful, and energetic. His family is yet to announce his memorial and funeral arrangements. He is survived by his family and loved ones.
