Biography

Buyile Mdladla (born 1975) is a South African presenter and actor. He is famous for playing Prince in season three of the SABC3 TV drama series Hard Copy.

As a presenter, he is best known for hosting the religious program Spirit Sundae. He appeared on the show broadcast on SABC1 from season one to eight.

Early Life

Buyile Mdladla was born in 1975 in a small village outside Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal.

Growing up on his grandfather’s farm, he did farm work – crop farming and rearing livestock. The actor fell in love with acting while in Standard 7.

Education

After high school and matric, Buyile studied at the Wits School of Dramatic Art.

Career

In his final year at the University, the actor appeared as US jazz saxophonist Charlie ”Yardbird” Parker.

An agent discovered the talented actor, and he appeared in the soap opera Generations. He presented on a youth magazine program on SABC1 Electric Workshop.

Mdladla worked as an entertainment editor for Drum Magazine until February 2002. He was also the Quizmaster on E.tv’s Sports Soccer challenge in June 2002.

Later that year, he became the presenter of the Live Lotto Draw and a co-host of the SABC2 broadcast show Spirit Sundae. He played Walter Sontonga in season one of Wounds Season and Mongi in season two of Zabalaza.

In 2008, he played the lead role of Melusi “Mel” Luthuli in the SABC1 mini-series adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear, Izingane zoBaba.

Buyile Mdladla bagged the role of the youngest son of Phatudi Mojalefa, Tumelo Mojalefa, in the SABC2 soap opera Muvhango in 2013. 

The prominent actor played Mandla in Broken Vows, Themba Biko in Family Secrets, Phillip Moloi in Geraamtes in die Kas, and Percy Zondo in Greed & Desire.

Mdladla played Odwa Kau in season three of Housekeepers and Leo Black in season one of Ingoma. He was a cast member of the soap opera Isibaya, appearing as Solom’zi in Seasons 3, 4, and 5.

In season one of Izingane zoBaba, he played Melusi Luthuli and Pilot in season five of Jacob’s Cross. He featured in the series Muvhango as Tumelo Mojalefa and Mzansi Love as Vuyo.

In season twelve of the SABC1 drama-education series Soul City, he played Dr Mthiyane. Other television credits include Task Force, The Alliance, The Road, Those Who Can’t, and the soap opera Uzalo.

Mdladla is an ordained Pastor and founder of Redemption Ministries International Church.

Buyile Mdladla and Carol Mdladla reportedly parted ways after she could no longer bear the abuse she faced. She says the marriage, filled with physical abuse, was a nightmare and extramarital affairs.

Carol accused him of having an extramarital affair with a top Generations actress. 

His estranged wife admitted to filing the divorce papers. She claims the abuse began shortly after welcoming their first child, Bathiyane. They were together for thirteen years.

Carol Mdladla accused Connie Ferguson of breaking her marriage with Buyile Mdladla. He has a new wife, Pastor Gomoditswe Mdladla.

Net Worth

Mdladla is a prominent actor and reputable pastor. He and his new wife run the Midrand-based church Redemption Ministries International. 

His wife has other investments in real estate, retails, and farming. According to Savannah News, they have a net worth of R245 million as of September 2022.
