Zozibini Tunzi (born 18 September 1993 in Tsolo, eSdwadweni in the Eastern Cape) is a South African model and beauty queen. In August 2019, she emerged winner of the Miss South Africa 2019 crown.

She is the winner of the Miss Universe 2019 which held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States. Zozi is the third South African woman to be crowned miss universe.

Education

Zozibini studied in the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and Image Management. in 2018.

After graduating from CPUT, she worked as an intern in the public relations department of Ogilvy Cape Town.

Parents

The name of Zozibini’s parents is Philiswa and Lungisa Tunzi. The couple, her parents, is in the education system.

Her mother is a school principal in Bolotwa, a village in Eastern Cape. Zozibini’s dad is a worker at the Department of Higher Education and Training in Pretoria.

Career

Her career as a beauty queen all started in 2017, the year she was accepted to be among the top 26 semifinalists for Miss South Africa. 

Although, she couldn’t make it into the twelve (12) final contestants. In 2019, she interned the competition once more and eventually emerged winner of the Miss South Africa 2019 in August 2019. 

Miss Universe 2019

Zozibini was given a sum of R1 million as cash prize including a brand new car.

She was also given a furnished apartment in the Sandton neighborhood of Johannesburg. Her apartment is estimated to value at R5 million in 2019.

She went to Georgia, the U.S., to represent her country at the Miss Universe 2019 which held at the Tyler Perry Studios. 

At the end of the event, she won the crown of Miss Universe 2019. She received the crown from Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray of the Philippines.

Zozibini is the third woman from her country, South Africa, to win the title. She is also the first black woman to be crowned Miss Universe since Leila Lopes in 2011.
