Vinolia Mashego (born on 16 April 1963 – 3 April 2020) is a South African TV presenter and actress. She is often addressed by her stage name V-Mash and often misspelled as Vinoliah Mashego.

She became famous after portraying the role of Hilda Letlalo in Generations, an SABC1 soap opera. 

She also gained an audience on TV upon hosting Jam Alley, a popular television youth program.

Vinolia Mashego, popularly addressed as V-Mash, is mother to Oratile, 20. He shared his experience growing up and how he had to deal with his mother’s fame. 

He was born after a series of heartbreaking miscarriages. His name Oratile loosely translates to God’s will.

As a young child, he did not know that he has a celebrity as a mother until the age of twelve (12).

She landed a starring role on the half-hour drama series Di Wele Makgolela as Pearl. In the 90s, the show aired on the now-defunct CCV-TV channel.

Vinolias received a sack letter from her producers following her increasingly erratic behavior.

After several years out of the spotlight, in 2010 she reappeared portraying a recurring role of Memes mother on Muvhango, an SABC2 soapie.

Vinolia became the subject of an episode of a documentary series, Had It All. 

The series aired in October 2013 on SABC2, where she shared information on her rise and fall in the entertainment industry.

She went back to being a presenter in 2014 and then joined PLS Call Me, an Mzansi Magic Music show.

She also appeared on the second season of isiBaya, an Mzansi Magic soap opera, where she played a cameo role.

Later in October 2014, Vinolia started to play a starring role in Mutual Friends, an SABC1 drama series.


The former presenter on Jam Alley, Vinolia Mashego has returned to the screen with full force. V-Mash has been off the screen for over a decade now.
