Vigro Deep born Kamogelo Phetla is a teenager who is making waves in the South African music industry. He is an amapiano Disk Jockey (DJ) and a producer.
The young talent has conquered Tshwane. He learned music production in 2017 and became very popular the following year. The same year, 2017, he was one of the South African producers of the amapiano house music sub-genre.
Vigro Deep Biography
He was born in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, South Africa. As of 2019, when this article was published, Vigro Deep is 18 years old. Making him one of the popular teenagers in South Africa in the year 2019.
At 17, he dropped his album titled Baby Boy, which turned out a success. After releasing the hit song, he decided to drop the second episode in the following year titled Baby Boy 2 Reloaded.
“His latest album features hits like Untold Story and Bundle of Joy.” The young star has also amazed many by finding his own sound identity inspired by Tshwane, its people, and what makes them happy.
The independent artist is currently not signed to any label, he made this decision to keep control of his sound and freedom. Moreover, most of his fans are young people who enjoy music on the internet.
“Another thing that makes me not want to sign to any major record label, even though they knock on my door, is because I’ve seen what other artists have been through from dealing with labels. I don’t want drama and stress. I just want to make music and make people feel good.” he said.
Phetla has performed in other African countries including Botswana and Mozambique which he drew a large crowd with his style of music.
He is set to perform beyond Africa as he is preparing to perform in America and the United Kingdom. According to him, “some of the gigs had unfortunately been delayed for a while owing to recent attacks on foreign nationals in South Africa.”
Being an underage celebrity means to go to some clubs to perform, and is only allowed to go straight to the DJ booth and get out as soon as his set is over.
“I really don’t mind that because that’s my focus anyway. I just want to get people dancing; I have never been one to go to where the vibe is at. All I want is to take my music to the world because there is nothing I want more.” he said.
He dropped out of school in Grade 10 when there was a positive shift in his career. According to him, he valued education and would not encourage people to quit school to focus on other careers.
“Education is very important and that’s why I am going to study at a tertiary institution next year to have a back-up and working skills.
“I only left school because it was impossible to manage everything at once, but I am definitely taking myself back to school. Education is a life skill,” he said.
