Sphelele Mzimela (born on Friday morning in the late ’80s) in Empangeni hospital, KwaZulu Natal. She plays the role of Kentucky, a naïve rural girl on Isibaya.

She was born into the family of Thembelihle Nzuza and Zenzele Mzimela. They are very successful chattered account and business person.
Sphelele is a sister to two (2) siblings namely; Xabiso and Snothile Mzimela. Her name, “Sphelele” was given to her by her grandmother even though she is the first-born child of her parents’ children.
Her grandmother gave her the name as she considered her first grandchild as hers. She saw Sphelele as the last born of her five (5) daughters.
She grew up under the protective care and guidance of her grandmother in Enyoni, a small town.
She sees growing up under the care of her grandma as the best years of her life and very happy childhood. Unfortunately, she lost her grandma in 2008.
She had her primary school education at Stanger manor primary school, an Indian school. Sphelele changed to Spearman primary school in Durban Sydenham.
She attended a private boarding school in Harrismith Freestate called New Horizon college.
Sphelele studied poetry, radio drama, music, dance and Acting at the Durban University of technology after enrolling in 2009.
She holds a diploma in drama from the Durban University of technology.
She also has a degree in the motion picture from The South African school of motion picture medium and lives performance (AFDA Academy).
She portrays as Kentucky on Isibaya, an Mzansi Magic soapie.
She started visiting the studio in 2009 to record her music. During her second year in school, she worked on her contemporary dancing skills.
Sphelele worked with popular choreographers in Durban like Musa hlatswayo and Mdu Mtshali.
She also has skills in directing which dates back to her 3rd year in school. She directed The Vagina Monologues, a play by Eve Ensler.
The actress and director shared how nervous and excited when she finally picked up her car up from the dealership.
“I was ecstatic but I was also freaked out because a car is a big responsibility. I think there was also a relief because I saved for five, six months.
