Nunu Khumalo (born 15 April 1992 in Mpumalanga) is a South African actress and model. She has bagged an award in reward for her exceptional impact in the entertainment circle.

Her smooth skin, body, and black skin contribute to making her a sought-after actress and model. She has further made more contributions as an actress in the South African film and television industry.

Each time she appears onscreen, television viewers remember her for some of the roles she played in the past. On the drama series dubbed Scandal, she was cast as Hlengiwe Twala.

In recognition of her impacts, she bagged the International Award for Best African Actress in 2019. She received the award at The New Vision International Film Festival, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The renowned actress was born on 15 April 1992 in Mpumalanga, South Africa

After her birth, she was named Nqobile Nunu Khumalo. Two months after, she relocated with her family to Johannesburg. Her parents raised her in the new location and tried to provide for her basic needs.


She attended the St Mary’s Diocesan School for Girls in Pretoria. After her secondary school education, she joined the Midrand Graduate Institute.

Nunu enrolled at the Midrand Graduate Institute and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.


The actress gained prominence for playing the starring role of a community health worker – Riri. She played the role in season twelve of Soul City, an SABC1 youth drama series, appearing in 2014.

She also played a recurring role as Nhlanhla in the SABC1 youth drama series Loxion Lyric.

She appeared first on television when she played the role of Cindy (guest-starring) in season one of isiBaya. She made her first appearance in 2013.

In the next year, another guest-starring role followed in the SABC1 drama series Task Force and Mfolozi Street.

She appeared in season 3 of Rockville, making it another guest-starring role for the renowned actress, in 2015. The popular show was produced by the celebrated Ferguson couple late Shona and Connie Ferguson.

Nunu appeared as one of the twelve finalists on season one of She’s the One. The show aired on SABC3 in 2015 (March-June). She played a guest role in Gauteng Maboneng, an SABC2 sitcom.

In September, she landed the starring role of Thandi in High Rollers. She took over from Thishiwe Ziqubu after she left with reasons only she could explain.

In May 2017, she appeared first in the soap opera Scandal as Hlengiwe. Nunu also appeared as Zandile in the telenovela Broken Vows. She made her debut appearance on 25 July 2017.

After a few years, she landed the role of Dudu in season 2 of the Mzansi Magic supernatural drama series The Herd.
