Nondumiso Tembe (born on 15 December 1987 in Durban) is an award-winning South African actress and singer. Viewers of the popular series Generations will be familiar with her face. She is cast on the show as Phumelele Miya.
She is also a notable performer at the Nelson Mandela 90th birthday celebration in his home in Qunu. She was recognized in 2015 for appearing in NCIS, Avengers II – Age of Ultron, and NCIS: LA. Mzansi celebrated her for flying the country’s flag.
The actress walked into the spotlight for playing a recurring role on True Blood in 2011. In season four of the horror series, she was cast as a ghost Mavis.
She grew up in Los Angeles and was a singer and appeared in several films and tv productions while in the United States. It is worth mentioning that the actress was featured in the new African Musical Witness Uganda in Los Angeles.

The actress holds many qualifications and training in the field. She attended American Musical and Dramatic Academy and studied for Musical Theatre in the institution.
The actress studied at the New School University, New York. She graduated with a Fine Arts in Theatre and Political Science degree from the institution.
Nondumiso received training on Ballet and African dance at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.
She also holds Classical theatre qualifications from the British American Dramatic Academy. Nondumiso attended the Yale School of Drama and completed a Masters of Fine Arts in Acting.
She also underwent training at Djoniba African Dance and Drum Center in New York City.
Her talents, qualifications, and training have joined hands to make her a heavyweight in the industry. She has taken home several awards following her notable performances in the industry.
At the Musical Mercury Theatre Awards, she bagged the Best Lead Actress award. This followed her notable performance in Cinderella, a Rogers, and Hammerstein’s (The Playhouse Company).
Another award she received was for playing the role of Susan in David Mamet’s play. She took home the Best Actress in the Supporting Role category at the Naledi Theatre Awards.
She was born into the family of Linda Bukhosini, mother, and Bongani Tembe, father. Her parents returned to the country following the end of the apartheid.
Linda and Bongani attended Juilliard School and studied music in the institution.
She also has a sister who is making waves on social media, Nellie Tembe. Her sister drew the attention of many to her after she started dating the rapper AKA.
Her profession could be traced to her tender days, when she was around six (6) she kicked off with performing in opera and theatre.
At the age of ten (10), her family came back to South Africa at that time the apartheid has ended. At the age of seventeen (17), she returned to the Big Apple alone. She returned to study Music Theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
She met her highlight in the industry after playing the title role in Annie. Appearing in Leopard Skin playing the role of Maria drew much attention to her. She gained more presence after she was cast as Thobile in Mata-Mata.
Nondumiso also played the role of Josephine Baker in Romeo and Juliet. She was also pleased to hold a summer performance at Princeton’s reputed McCarter Theatre.
In January 2011, she dropped IZWI LAMI; My Voice, her first album. In December 2013, she appeared first on the popular television series, Generations. She was cast as Phumelele Miya, the character who happens to be a fashion executive who grew up in New York.
