Masasa Mbangeni (born on 6th March 1987 in Port Elizabeth) is an award-winning South African actress, theatre-maker, and director.
She walked into the spotlight upon landing a starring role as arch-villain Thembeka Shezi on Scandal!, an e.tv soap opera.

She attended the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) after she received the Mandela Rhodes scholarship.
She pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts. She majored in Performance and Directing.
She was nominated twice for the incredible role she played on the show Scandal.
She received two nominations (2014 and 2015) from the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA).
Masasa was also Nominated for ‘Best actress in the inaugural DStv Mzansi Magic Viewers Choice Awards’.
As an actress, she has received nominations and awards, Masasa was nominated for ‘Best Actress in a TV Soap at SAFTAs for the role she played on Scandal!.
She was nominated twice, 2014 and 2015, she took home the award in 2015.
The next year, 2016, she took an extended leave from the show to chase other interests of hers.
She then landed a starring role in the season 2 of the SABC2 thriller series Thola.
Before she landing her role on Scandal, Masasa made two TV guest appearances.
She appeared as Jackie’s PA on Egoli, an M-Net soapie and as Eunice on Silent Witness, a BBC crime drama.
“On stage, she appeared in a trilogy of plays directed by James Ngcobo at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg: Amen Corner, Sundjata and Nogogo”.
Masasa portrayed the role of ‘Antigone in Greg Hoffman’s production of Oedipus @ Koönú’.
She also appeared in the ‘2011 feature film Machine Gun Preacher’.
She participated in the 2015 Marie Claire naked campaign to blow the whistle against sexual violence against women and children.
The issue features thirty-five local celebrities including on the cover, actresses Pearl Thusi and Masasa Mbangeni.
Members of the band ‘Taxi Violence’ are completely naked and showing their genitals.
It is meant to raise awareness of the Blow the Whistle campaign, an anti-rape drive.
“The campaign aims to give a voice to the many thousands who suffer daily.
“Our aim is simple: to raise awareness and allow those who are victims to feel safe and to come forward and speak up,” Marie Claire editor Aspasia Karras.
She portrayed the character of Jakie’s PA in the Season 18 of Egoli: Place of Gold.
Masasa portrayed the role of Khanya Langa on Season 4 of the show ‘Hard Copy’.
She also appeared on the first season of Harvest, where she portrayed the role of Celia.
She also appeared in the first and second season of the show, ‘House Keepers’. She played the role of Hlubi
Masasa also portrayed the role of Katlego in It’s Complicated (Season 2) and as Thembeka Shezi in Scandal! (Season 1).
She portrayed the role of Eunice in season 12 of the show, Silent Witness, and Bridget in the first season of the show ‘The Republic’.
She played the role of Akhona in season 2 of ‘The River’ and was nominated in ‘The South African Film and Television Awards’ Season 8.
She won the ninth season of ‘The South African Film and Television Awards’.
She portrayed the role of Sindi Bila in the television Show Thola (Season 2).
