Ms. Lulama Mokhobo is the former Group Chief Executive of the SABC. She served as the Chief Executive Officer of South African Broadcasting Corp Ltd (January 2012– February 2014).
She was also the Group Exec: Public Broadcasting South African Broadcasting Corp Ltd.
Lulama was appointed to serve as CEO of SABC with immediate effect for five (5) years.
She was appointed because of her relevant qualifications, skills, capabilities, and experience.
Lulama has extensive executive leadership experience both in the public and private sectors.
Before the position, she served as SABC Group Executive for Public Broadcasting Services.
She obtained a BA degree from the University of Botswana and Swaziland. Lulama got her Master of Science qualification at the Utah State University, the USA.
She is currently a Board member at Sentech. Lulama was also a Board Member at South African Broadcasting Corp Ltd until 2014.
She served as chairman at Miranda Mineral Holdings Ltd till January 2012.
Lulama is also a board member of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. She is also the chairperson of the Independent Producers Organisation.
She is a board member of Miranda Mineral Holdings Ltd (December 2005 – unknown).
Lulama Mokhobo, the former SABC group CEO, made a shocking statement to the judicial commission of inquiry into state capture.
She said that certain” people within the organization would go to the “bottom pit of lies” to tarnish her name.”
She testified before the commission that she believed she was pushed from the organization.
During her testimony, Lulama revealed that attempts push had happened at least three times.
“There were rumors swirling around the organization that I was going to be suspended and there were lots of lies that were being told about me.”
