She was born Liesl Laurie on 24 December 1990 in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was welcomed into the family of Karen Laurie. She was raised by her mother who worked as a high school teacher to cater for her.

Her grandmother also played an unforgettable in helping her mother who raised her single-handedly.

She recognized what her grandmother did even without her father’s support and sees her as her most favorite person in the world.

In March 2015, the celebrated model took home Miss South Africa 2015. She received the crown from Zipozakhe Zokufa who was the reigning titleholder.

The memorable event was held at the Sun City Super Bowl and emerged winner defeating eleven other finalists. She was also in Sanya, China for the Miss World 2015.

She appeared as one of the one-hundred and fourteen who contested for the title. She made it to the top 10 finalists in the competition and became the Continental Queen of Africa.

She has also works on a radio station, Jacaranda FM, as a presenter.

The former Miss South Africa is married to Musa Mthombeni. They spent their honeymoon at the Mosaic Lagoon Lodge in the Cape Whale Coast.
