Early Life

Lalela Mswane was born in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa on 27 March 1997. She was born into a family of three children. She is the youngest of her siblings and has an older brother and sister.

Her parents did all within their best to provide her and her siblings with the necessities to live comfortably. Her mother, Hleliselwe, was an accounts clerk and homemaker. In 2010, she lost her father.

Education

After building a solid educational foundation in a prestigious primary school, she furthered her studies at Pro Arte Alphen Park.

She graduated from secondary school in 2015 and then got an academic admission at the University of Pretoria. She obtained a Bachelor of Law degree from the institution.

Career

Mswane is not new to the modeling profession neither is she a newbie in pageantry. She has been working as a professional model and was signed to a modeling agency Alushi Models.

She then began to involve in pageantry after she participated in the Matric Experience 2015 pageant. Mswane performed well and left the competition as the first runner-up.

In 2021, she took a bold step in joining Miss South Africa 2021 competition. On 6 July, it was announced that she made it among the thirty women shortlisted for the competition.

Her beauty, smart looks, performance, interviews, and also votes from the public earned her a spot on the 10 semifinalists announced on August 3rd.

She then made it to the finals of the Miss South Africa 2021 which was held at the Grand West Arena in Cape Town, South Africa on October 16th.

She further climbed to the top 5 contestants after she took part in the swimsuit and evening gown portions of the competition.

At the question and answer round, she left groundbreaking responses and advanced to the top 3. Eventually, she emerged as the winner of Miss South Africa 2021.

Prizes

Being Miss South Africa comes with a lot of prizes and rewards. She is to stay for a year in a well-furnished apartment in Sandton. Also, she will possess a Mercedes Benz C-Class for a year.

Lalela Mswane also received one million Rand and will be representing the country at Miss Universe 2021 in December.
