Her sister’s name is Zandile ‘Zandie’ Khumalo and she is also a popular singer. Before fame, she worked as Kelly’s stylist and backing vocalist. “Zandile signed a global distribution deal with Warner Music in 2018.”
“I thought I was just singing and recording for myself, but a beautiful song came out of it called Themba which was my first single in 2016. It went to radio and I never looked back since then,” she told People magazine.
After the death of Senzo Meyiwa, she denied having any involvement with the footballer’s murder. Senszo was killed in an alleged botched robbery at Kelly’s family home in Vosloorus in October 2014.
Though the killer is yet to be arrested and brought to justice, many of Senzo’s fans don’t buy that he was killed in a robbery rather someone in Kelly’s inner circle shot Senzo dead.
“I’m not going to sit back and let you abuse and accuse me of something I have nothing to do with. I have co-operated with the law, gave all the necessary information. If there’s one thing I will never do is take the fall for something I know nothing about. I will fight till my last breath because that’s who I am,” Kelly wrote on Twitter in June 2019.
She has been into a relationship with many popular male celebrities over the years. Kelly was formerly in a relationship with Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye but didn’t get a happy ending.
She accused Molemo of domestic abuse and revealed that she started doing drugs during her relationship with the rapper.
“I became a drug addict. Those are the repercussions of having money when you are young and not knowing what to do with it. I was in a bad space. I was in a bad relationship. I was not motivated at all. In fact, I became so hooked on drugs and I would forget about everything,” she told Pearl Thusi.
She was also in a relationship with Prosper Mkwaiwa, a music promoter.
She was labeled “a cursed woman” as most of her exes don’t end well. They either die, fall on hard times or went to jail. In 2018 she denied being cursed on an interview and said: “she is one of the most blessed people she knows.”
Kelly is a mother of two kids, a son Christian and daughter Thingo. She had her son with rapper Jub Jub and her daughter with Senzo Meyiwa.
