Hlomla Dandala (born 22 September 1974 in Mdantsane) is a South African presenter, actor, and director. He has made appearances in many television serials and films that have contributed in raising him to prominence.
He is a familiar face on screen for playing the role of Derek Nyathi in Isidingo for 3 years (1998-2001). Hlomla landed the title role (Jacob) in the Drama broadcast on SABC2 Jacob’s Cross.
He started playing the role in the premiere of the series. The first was broadcast on SABC2 on 2 April 2009.
As a presenter, he gained the love of many television viewers on the reality dating show All You Need Is Love (2002-2003).

He was born Hlomla Dandala on 22 September 1974 in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, South Africa. The actor is fluent in 4 languages including English, Afrikaans, Zulu, and Xhosa, and stands as tall as 5’9″ (1.80 m).
He played the starring role of Minister of the Environment Jet Hlatswayo in End Game, an SABC1 political thriller mystery drama serial.
He also played major roles in other television serials like Tsha Tsha, Interrogation Room, and Gaz’lam.
Dandala was also cast in the US daytime series Scout’s Safari, the show was broadcast on Discovery Kids and NBC.
The actor was also cast in season 2 of Zero Tolerance, an SABC1 drama series as Majola Tindleni. As a director, he is the brain behind three episodes of the drama series Hard Copy.
He also directed seven episodes of Gaz’lam and also episodes of the soap operas Generations and Backstage. Dandala also directed the film The Bet for the Heartlines movie series on SABC2 in 2006.
In 1997, he appeared in the film Fools and appeared in Red Dust and Lord Of War in 2004 and 2005.
More on his movie credit is Coup in 2006, a made for television movie, and in The Triangle in 2005, a min-series.
He was cast in a major role in the medical series Jozi-H in 2007 and M-Net broadcast drama series Jacob’s Cross as Jacob.
In the following year, he landed the lead role of Khanyiso Phalo in Land of Thirst, an SABC2 mini-series appearing for a month (January-February).
In 2001, Hlomla Dandala got married to Candy Litchfield. After almost nine years together as husband and wife, the couple ended their union in divorce in 2009.
Hlomla married again to Brendah but their marriage did not get the “till death do us part” ending either. Their union ended in a divorce. According to Buzz South Africa, both marriages ended following cheating allegations.
