Carol was born on August 11, 1981, in Pimville, Soweto, South Africa. As of the time, this memoir was written, she is 38 years old (2019).
She became a wife at a young age after getting married to Solomon Manana at the age of 19. In 2002 she conceived of a male child named Joel and later in 2007 the couple had another son, Solomon.
Her nephew Mpho is also under her care after the death of his mother, who was her sister.
She and her husband, Solomon, had their divorce in December 2006. According to her, “she felt trapped in her marriage for the longest time since she was emotionally and physically abused”.
She is happy with her newfound love, Sbu Motoloung , who is four years younger than she is. During an interview section with Bona Magazine, Carol said, “Sbu’s so mature, he understands my world and isn’t intimidated or threatened that I’m in sports and my colleagues are men.
I was worried at first about the age gap between us and also because I entered the relationship with three kids. I didn’t know how he’d handle that. But I’m also so young at heart and he gets along with my children so well.”
Following her graduation from Krugersdorp High School in 2000, she got the job as a sportscaster for SABC. She worked there as a voice-over artist, TV anchor, and program director for eleven years, till 2011.
She joined Kaya FM 95.9 in 2005 and worked with them for about two years as a sports reporter. She compiled and reported news on the breakfast show.
Later in 2008, she joined Radio 2000 and worked as a drive time sports show host, she also was working as a sportscaster for SABC at this time.
After leaving SABC in 2011, she joined SuperSport. She revealed in an interview with Bona Magazine that one reason why she left was that she felt as if she was not used to her full potential at SABC.
The minor role she played during the 2010 FIFA World Cup coverage bothered her. It showed that the channel didn’t have enough confidence in her to consider her for such a grand event.
She later joined Barclays Premier League Productions (IMG productions) and worked as a live studio anchor in 2016. In 2017, she co-hosted SuperSport’s 10-year celebration.
