Born Vusi Bruce Koloane is a former mathematics and economics teacher. In October 2011, he was appointed deputy director-general and he also served as South Africa’s Ambassador to Spain for 3 years (2007-10).
Bruce is a holder of a senior primary teaching diploma from the Indumiso College of Education. He also holds a BSocSc (Hons) degree from the then University of Natal.
Still, on degrees, he holds an Honours degree in Economics from the University of Natal. Bruce also took part in the Department of Trade and Industry foreign economic representative programme out of the then University of Natal.
In October 2011, Bruce was an appointed deputy director-general. As a teacher, he started his teaching career with the Department of Education and Training.
From 2007-2010, he served as SA’s ambassador to Spain. Bruce was appointed as the SA’s Consul-General to Shanghai in 2013. He also was the chargé d’affaires at the South African Embassy in Beijing.
