Bongani Bingwa was born in 1974 in Eastern Cape, South Africa. At age 12, he moved to Gauteng. He had always had a thing for the radio when he discovered that people wanted to make sense of the world.
While he grew up, he continued to listen to the radio which claimed the larger share of his source of news and entertainment. Most of the time, he would listen to Radio Transkei.
He spent most of his childhood days in the Eastern Cape. Bongani’s obsession with the radio, Radio Metro, Radio Bop, and Radio 5, grew during his teenage days.
